Postpartum care!

Postpartum blog

Congratulations! You finally get to meet your little bundle of joy after months of being pregnant! Our hair, skin, and nails may have changed during pregnancy and many women find that some changes linger or sometimes worsen (hair loss I’m talking about you!)

First, let’s talk sunscreen! There are many conditions, such as melasma and rosacea, that can develop during pregnancy or postpartum that worsen with sun exposure. My favorite is EltaMD’s facial sunscreen collection as they contain transparent zinc oxide (a dermatology favorite!) and are non-comedogenic; meaning they won’t clog your pores or worsen any lingering annoying acne. EltaMD clear facial sunscreen also contains niacinamide and is safe for sensitive skin types. It comes tinted and non-tinted. Personally, the tinted version makes me feel like I am wearing makeup as we all know makeup routines are forcibly quick and simple after having a little one.

Each box contains reusable silicone sheets that can be cut to the size and shape of your scar. Each sheet can be reused for up to 3-4 weeks prior to needing to be replaced. If sheets are not your cup of tea (or coffee... for those long nights up with your little one) Silagen also offers a topical gel that works just as well. It even has SPF included in it which helps scars look as pretty as possible! Colorful Cool Dreamy Motivational Quote Your Story_3.png

Last, but definitely not least, is Nutrafol. Many women experience lucious locks during pregnancy and are devastated to experience postpartum hair loss. Nutrafol postpartum is a breastfeeding friendly complex vitamin developed by OBGYNs that has been clinically shown to improve hair growth and overall hair health. I began taking this shortly after my baby was born and have yet to experience any postpartum hair loss. In fact, my hair has continued to grow and thicken more so than when I was pregnant.

We know that “postpartum life” can be trying and tiresome, but your skincare during this time doesn’t have to be. As always, if you have any questions about your hair, skin, or nails, we are here to help!

The PITS!

Often times, grooming our underarms can leave us with unwanted hyperpigmentation. Let's try to fix it.

Hard Working Products!

Because it's hard to find time to do a multi-step skincare routine (and time to blog...), we're getting back to it with products that do more than one thing!

POV: My sister is a dermatologist

In the spirit of continuing guest bloggers, my sensitve-skin-sister, Elizabeth, has agreed to blog about her face as she tries to take better care of her skin! Here she is, excited about her new journey.
